Sydney Landscapes
After studying the detail of the shore, during 1991 and 1992 the artist's attention was drawn to the wider landscape. Transitional works still incorporated found objects in the framing. The works became long and thin to recreate how we view a landscape and become immersed within it.
A major influence was the work of the Heidelberg School and their '9 by 5 Impression Exhibition' where the artists painted on narrow cigar box lids which the audience viewed through simple wooden frames like a letter box opening.
