In Venice Manning explored areas less frequented by tourists and captures that experience of discovery in the work. Using a long thin format to enable a wide vista, the viewer is presented with numerous points of focus, just as at every turn Venice offers numerous choices of direction via its canals and alleys ,each with it’s own tantalizing draw.
The Venice Series was exhibited in the retrospective ‘Selected Works’ at Moonah Arts Centre, Hobart TAS.
